Hey Tugboat, you should be able to buy Owner Mosquito Hooks through the Tackleworld chain, our local store here has them down to size 14 now I think. They're a pretty standard pattern, good for everything.

Can't help you with lake Victoria...

I have some size 10 hooks and they are so small I can't imagine them being any good for anything other than something smaller than my hand. Do they really catch carp that small?

Look how small trout fly hooks are. You should choose a lure to match the size of the bait your using, not the size of the fish your after. Within reason ofcourse.

Why not, think of it as a challenge, think how you would feel if you caught a 4 5 6kg carp or any fish that size on a hook that small you would realy have something to talk about .Tugboat...............

G,day Steve, took your advise and tried to find a tackleworld store near home [O,halloran hill] only to find it shut down about 12mths ago, dont know whythough. So found another store called [Lets go fishing] and after about 20mins the owner recalled he had abox of old stock out back and went hunting though and bingo found what i was looking for. They are a Mustard hook called tarpon No7766d, size 10 ,.the only difference being these are silver not black chrome.so once again thanks..Tugboat..............

Hey Khat,if have a look at my avatar, the carp im holding is about 2kg,and that was caught on that size 10 hookand very lite line [by river standards],must saythough gets the ticker racing. Not to sure how it would go with a heavier fish but im going to give it a go.cheers Tugboat...............
