Hey Trev,
The thing is that everyone can look at the forum, whether they are a member or not. Google anything fishing related and nearly always it will come up linking to a Tacklebox Page. Now we just try to be a little bit careful lol.
Cheers,
Sam

thats its Davo, most blokes I share with are TBX members that ive met and know personally. ( and theres quite a few that ive met now, and all good blokes ) If your giving up locations to strangers you havent done the time on the water it takes to find the spots IMO. And if you are expecting a stranger to give up locations to you online the chances are your the type of bloke who is going to pass that info onto anyone. 5 years finding the water that produces is not something that ill hand over to a stranger. If there is trust thats been gained and the info is going both ways its all good, but the trust has to be there.

i dont mind giving locations around Elcho because if someone makes it here they deserve a bit of help.
the rivers, creeks and billabongs around my hometown are a different matter.

As always we're getting more and more new members so thought it was time to bump this one up a touch. Guys please have a read of Buck's original post on page one.
This isn't a criticism aimed at anybody in particular, it's just a heads up to all the newcomers.
Cheers,
Sam

I feel bad about it but i have joined the dont tell brigade. I had a wonderful tree on the Hume weir, it was in only 6 feet of water but always gave me a bag of reddies and now and then a yella the missus even caught a Mirror Carp there. Took a mate to this spot on promise of only fishing there with me. A couple of months later i'm at a party with the missus and ol' mate is drunk and laughingly tells me that he had been back there with other people. Last time i take that tosser anywhere on my Tinny. Just saying that you gotta be careful.
HERE I SIT, BROKEN HEARTED, SPENT A PENNY AND ONLY FARTED!

Hi
Think it is a great idea to reinforce this issue Bucks.
Can I add it's really using a little common sense. We don't want to influence members to stop writing interesting posts and adding awsome pics,it's a matter of stopping to think first ,previewing your post, edit it with changes and submitting.Once it's out there, it's for all to see ,so it's a point to remember.
Probably can go out the window over a few beers though .lol!
Cheers fellas

If new members could have a read through this thread I'm sure you will understand why we needs a basic rule like this for everyone to follow.
Any questions yell out to myself or one of the other mods.
Cheers

Yes, completly agree, if you tell someone a secret, its not really a secret, is it? I have my littl 'hideout' places where Im almost certain of catching a fish, Why? Because its not overfished, if I where to tell everyone one it and tell them the location, it 1. wont be secretive, 2. become overfished, 3. wont be my hideout where i can relax but will become littered and discusting.
If i post up a thread or a report and its of a 'secret location' feel free to send me a message and ill be more then happy to tell you, if you keep it a secret between me and you
thanks, Nathan.
