Gday fellas,
This thread has come about mainly as the site has boomed in terms of member numbers.
I along with the other mods and many more members believe Tacklebox needs to spell out a rule that was once unwritten law on TBX.
This is a simple topic of locations and what to name on the site. There was an unwritten law on TBX when I joined up that you keep exact location to yourself, and its for a good bloody reason, if you post it here you post it up for the world to read.
We simply ask all members to have a good think about what they are posting prior to hitting submit button. Once its on the forum that location will be open slather for anyone who reads the post. ( or googles it )
Heres some points to think about before posting-
Would you give away your favourite location to a complete stranger??
If you have a cracker of a day, do you tell every person you see where you landed all your fish??
Are you confident that others will treat the location with the respect it deserves?
Its fine to mention impoundments as theres alot of water to find the fish in, but you do not need to be specific on where.
Rivers and creeks, If well known, only need mention the river, not head down this road, chuck a left, then right...not a good idea.
Then there are smaller rivers and creeks that may not even need a mention at all.
Im a freshwater fisho but im sure you blokes would agree that the same goes for the salt. Out in the deep im sure its fair enough, but little jettys or hidden away creeks dont really need to be posted up for the world to see.
We can still all share our trips, but any in depth advice about locations can be done via PM. But we thought a reminder was needed and we ask that all members think twice about what they post.
I hope everyone understands why we have started this thread, but if you have any questions please yell out.
cheers
