Yep, there are some real tossers about. I remember going out for a BBQ at Wellington Point once and having to try and clean melted plastic coke bottles off the plate. We ended up giving the idea of a BBQ away because the smell of burning plastic was too bad to tolerate and put us off the idea of eating anything cooked on the plate.

As for rubbish, the Mrs and I went out to Leslie a few weeks back and the rubbish was appalling. Someone had dumped what looked like half a ute load of rubbish around the rocks up from the boat ramps. And the amount of bottles, cans, tins and other shit just makes you sick.

I much prefer Connolly, Its nice and clean. It seems to me that there is a correlation between the powerboat/jet ski crowd and general disregard for the environment (sorry if I offend any responsible water skiers)

I take a rubbish bucket when I go out there and leave nothing behind, not even snipped of lengths of fishing line. And If I do see some rubbish around me I make a point to grab it and toss it in my rubbish. It shouldn’t be our responsibility to clean up after morons but I guess I take the "leave nothing" idea a step further and make it "leave with something" if we all took a little bit of rubbish away it would help I think

Here is a snippet from our local Newspaper
IT was Clean Up Australia Day yesterday and the Young committee was out and doing its bit beneath somewhat uncertain skies.
Fewer people turned out to help this year, something committee president, Clare Freudenstein (OAM), partly put down to the predictions of bad weather for the day.
“We were supposed to have showers and it was supposed to be cold today, so that may have kept a few away” said Mrs Freudenstein.
“Our rally point was in Rotary Park because we don’t have use of the town hall, so some people may have been confused.
“We’ve been concentrating mainly on the creek area and have come up with some interesting items, we’ve found a 1980 bottle, a shopping trolley and an old bed base,” said Mrs Freudenstein.
The fact these types of items have been found near one of our visitor attractions perhaps highlights a need for more than an annual cleanup, and more than an increased effort by the council, which is currently fighting an uphill battle against the unsightly environmental litter regularly found in Burrangong Creek to the east of Thornhill Street.
What treasures are to be found on the westward side of that bridge is anyone’s guess.
Local site supervisor for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day, Hugh Jackson, said the creek is the focal point for all the town’s litter.
“Everything that’s dropped in the street, if it’s not taken by the street sweeper it ends up in the creek,” Mr Jackson said.
“In the short term we just cannot help that, but in the long term education is going to be the key.
“People need to think about what they are doing before they throw.
“Clean Up Australia is all about cleaning up our rivers, foreshores and waterways, all those sorts of places. “
“I think we should be concentrating on our creek and leaving the streets to the council,” said Mr Jackson.

    Hi All
Makes me feel proud of our member base when I read this thread. There's a lot of passionate fishermen with strong views when it comes to their backyard environment.
It's good to see your views expressed on Tbx in a balanced way.
Tbx has a set of "Forum Guidelines" set in place for all new members to browse and I think there fair for all to see!
It's great to read these posts where people have put a little effort in ,not just one sentencing, or asking questions, cause they can't be bothered going back over the archives of info already covered!
    Should be more of it.
    Sorry I'm transgressing!
    Top reading.
    Cheers Guys
