Good year so far with some nice sea runners and resident fish being caught up to 3/4kg on occasion around the hobart area .West coast and down south of the huon region has plenty of large sea runners to chase in the smaller inlets but some local knowledge is usually of great help with so much water and so little time to fish. And a good 4x4 to !!
Chasing of the white bait has well gotten under way and quite a spectacular sight with hundreds of fish as far as the eye can see crashing the schools of white bait .Some of which do reach the lower sections of the styx and tyenna rivers , with the occasional sea runner in chase . 17lb would do rather nicely !!!!have not sighted sea runner that size as yet ,but many that size and bigger in the rivers here .
their out there ,go get em !! GOOD LUCK ...

As i said before on the forum ,if you would like a guide down one of these rivers i will give you a freebie to any tackle box member !! Very cheap for air fares and rent a bomb at the moment .Look a couple months in advance and it will be rediculously cheap !!!$100 return to melb...Have the old man over for his first plastics/braid/graphite experience !!!!!Old school meets new school!!!!!! First shot will be cast in the morn when the fish wake up here (around 10am/5pm,seriously).Post a report in the arvo 2morrow on the events of the day ............Tyenna Madness..........

There off the bite today !!! Only 3 fish for the morn session. Huge rise on of course so put on fly dropper and bingo!!! Snagged a few small ish ones(1lb or so). Good fun when they hit the dropper(smashed it)!1000 follows before that with little to no strikes. Try static resin head tomorrow witch should help the fly to stay on the surface for a little longer .Seen a few really big sips at flies today so ill see how we fair 2morrow.

And usually only the larger model sea runners venture up to the weir on the Styx and Tyenna but there are also some escapee atlantics from the farms on the river .Some times people mistake them for sea runners .I took 1 today and lost another alot bigger in the river ! Posted pic up in other thread (largest trout this season) even though its atlantic . Still a salmanoid...

    Default Tyenna

Great fishing for all on the Tyenna .Plastics ,Fly & Bait . Afternoon rises have been the highlight !
Another escape of Atlantics at Cygnet recently with fish reported around 4kg+ . One school of salmon (100 or so ) were seen jumping in close to shore witness's say . Would have been an awesome sight .
4kg Atlantics also stocked at Brady's Lake (550) Craigebourne Dam (275) Meadowbank Lake (275) .All x-brood stocks .

A couple on fly from the Tyenna today !
