    Default Dead Fish in Windy

    Hi all,
Recieved a mm from Snoops to say he found dead Silver perch in Windermere. On Sunday I thought I had better go and have a look. Unfortunalty down behind the big island in particular their was heaps of dead yellas and lesser nos of silvers. I even found a dead goldfish. I believe the rotting vegatation has caused a massive algae bloom which has caused a lack of oxygen. BUT I am no scientist.
Still managed to catch two on fly and had two other follows.
    Cheers Pete

Yeah me to Murph, Harro is coming down next week and I went over to get it wired. Really do not feel like fishing it now. But I still got two so not all are sick.
    Cheers Pete

hey guys im also from round that area and have heard of a big fish kill, a bloke went out there last weekend and noticed on the wind feed banks he had found alot of big yellas dead, some close to the bank still alive but with there tail out of water in amongst the weeds,,,,,, with this happening his thourghts were that the big windamere fish will be around low 500 to mid.. this is very bad news, lets hope theres still a fair few going strong,

    huy guys,

this is sad to hear about these sorts of things but its not the first time things like this have happened, and i'm pretty sure it won't be the last.
but nature seems to have a way of bouncing back from these things, sure its gonna take time but its not all doom and gloom.

    heads up fellas

Yeah to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if we're just seeing a lot of fish reaching the end of their natural lifespan. The crook water probably is just starting to accelerate the process! I'd imagine they just can't survive in that kind of situation anymore.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Pete,
What sort of dead fish numbers are we talking here mate?
I have often heard that when Windy gets a rise that there is a minor to moderate fish kill, but usually catties. I believe its something to do with newly submerged green matter de oxygenating the water.... But then again I could be wrong... I aint no scientist either!
How many deaduns did you see??
