    Default Ten Suggested Fishing Spots

Borrowed from the Parks Victoria website, I thought this was a handy little list of some good recommended Victorian fishing spots.

    Ten suggested fishing spots

Alpine National Park Murray-Kiewa Rivers - the upper Murray area is perfect for brown trout and rainbow trout. The Dargo River, again, contains brown trout but also blackfish, bass and eels, and is most productive in the cooler months.

    Bellarine Peninsula

St Leonards Pier is an area close to Melbourne that provides good fishing for snapper, squid, flathead and whiting. Pier fishing at Queenscliff is best in summer for mullet, while Portarlington Pier is worth the effort in rough weather for snapper. The bridge linking Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads offers bream, luderick, salmon, trevally and mulloway.

    Croajingalong National Park

Offshore fishing at Mallacoota is among the best in Victoria. Remote fishing in Tamboon Inlet is an excellent alternative for those wanting to fish in medium-sized boats or "tinnies".

    Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park

There is extensive fishing throughout the lakes system. Tailor, bream, luderick, Australian salmon, mullet, and silver trevally are often caught at the Entrance Channel.

    Grampians National Park

Lake Wartook is considered to be one of the more attractive of waters in the region. In an idillic forested setting, it is well regarded for trout fishing by bait and fly fishers.

    Lake Eildon National Park

Salmon, trout, roach, carp, redfin, cod: although quiet in recent times, Lake Eildon is still worth a fishing trip. The most productive areas are the Main Arm from Jerusalem Creek to Woolshed Inlet, Big River Arm and Jerusalem Creek. The two access points for the southern end of the lake are the Jerusalem Creek and the Lake Eildon National Park Fraser Camping Area ramps.

    Mornington Peninsula

Portsea to Sorrento, including Portsea and Sorrento piers. Expect whiting, flathead and snapper.

    Patterson River

Patterson River is a popular spot for bream and mullet. It is also one of the busiest gateways to Port Phillip Bay with four launching ramps, toilets, two free BBQs and tackle shop at Launching Way.

    Portland Bay to Nelson

Portland Harbour to Fitzroy River expect to find shark. Around Portland: whiting, snapper, flathead

    Port Phillip Bay

St Kilda Pier: flathead, bream, mullet, garfish. Princes Pier: flathead, bream, mullet, garfish
Can usually be found on the water somewhere between Narooma and Metung.

You forgot to mention 3 metres of water out from the Werribee River mouth - great for a quick feed of Big Flattie tails.

Feel free to add to this list guys, and I will edit it and keep it up to date. You may wish to include the target species and best bait as well.

    "Lake Eildon National Park

    Marc,
Mmmmmmm .... this must be very old Parks Vic information, there have been NO salmon purposely released into Lake Eildon for many, many years ........ and no mention about the awesome Lake Eildon Golden Perch fishing of recent years.

    Cheers,
    Hewie.

Maybe we should put together our own lists (one for salt, one for fresh)?
And we might even be able to get the others in other states to do one for theirs?

Why not, as you've got a good basis for the Victorian one in here already.
