I've never fished Deniliquin before and with it being C&R I may look at fishing it. Great to see more C&R in fishing comps

    G Day Boys

From a personal oppinion, the Deni comp is just. Have fished it for the past 4 years and totaly enjoyed it but the event is a bit of a shambles.
    1. The majority of the 700 or so anglers who fish the comp chose to bait fish. This means they are tied up to all the good snags so it makes casting lures a bit difficult.
    2. The body of water the comp is fished in is not big enough for all the boats.
You have a heap of traffic roaring up and down the river without alot of concern for others.
3.After paying an entry fee, the majority of the other prizes are alot of raffles that you need invest extra $$$ to be a chance.
    4. Had a good fish 2 yrs ago that I wanted to release ASAP but marshalls had decided to go on a break not telling anyone. Went 6kms up stream to 4 Posts (Comp HQ) only to find an organiser who had no idea what was going on. Ended up releasing the fish without entering it in the comp.
    5. The Sunday presentations are a shambles. When the comp is over, people are looking at getting home as quick as possible but they draw out the show by having a countless amount of "spinning wheel " draws. The novelty soon wears off this when you are sitting out in the hot sun.

In saying all that, I will probably go back for the social side of it and for the enjoyable nights we have Friday night @ the RSL andin the Edwards River Hotel on the Sat Night.

    Cheers TB

Great to hear another comp total C&R.

Although I'm a bit concerned of big comps on small waterways with a majority bait fishing. Let us know how it all goes as it would be interesting to see the stats.

I have never fished the area. If I can swing time off work I may head over there for a few days.

    Gday TB,

Its a shame I didnt have the fish reviver on the market back then, you could have just left your prize catch in the water attached to it until the stewards returned lololololololol. But I promise you wont be without one for much longer. Its great to see many more comps following the lead of the C.O.C and going total C & R, now all they need is a bit more thought into fish handling practises and availability of weigh stations etc and our natives should have a much better chance of being successfully released.

Oh by the way Yella`s in the 40 to 45cm range are being caught in the campaspe on spinnerbaits at the moment.
