Also really like the white antiqued fizzer ,very snazzy...
Cool first attempts Bashunter !
If they are catching fish you are doing well , finish isn't everything but it is good fun to play with the airbrush and see what you can come up with .
Keep on whittlin ,

I don't really like making small lures I have shaky hands and they're hard to get the same time after time and sinking lures are a right pain in the backside gotta either use hard wood or add lead or steel. Some of Dickos minnows would land you a redfin especially considering the take down finnicky Trout and RANs small trout lures would without a doubt their not the pickest species and a while back I caught a nice Bream going 37cm on one so a Reddie would definatley try to gobble it up, he is a few of his on ebay **I hope nobody mines me plugging RAN's crafts if I'm out of line let me know** 4x Rhyno hand crafted timber lure trout bream bass redfin | eBay hey thats my Bream in the pic :)

Hey guys some awesome lures here, I have just started making a few my self, will post pics soon but have a questions about the process. What stage do you test your lures? Before applying the coat of primer? and will a bath tub be enough to see that they have a decent action etc? I am just using a belt sander to shape mine and only experimenting at this stage so i will probably want to test them all before getting too far into the process.
Cheers,
Jesse

Hey Jesse,
The only advice I can offer is to test them with hooks on - they can swim quite differently before and after you attach tackle. I test mine before I paint, but by no means am I an expert.
Good luck!!

Hi Jesse,
You can test them prior to primering you just need to dry them out that is how I test all my new designs, but, my older designs I test after I primer them so I don't have to wait for them to dry. I've seen some people use a bath it's not ideal though, I have tested some in the pool before that worked well and then taken them to my local spot and they were horrible. Shallow divers and surface lures could be tested well in the bath I reckon. Poolie.

To further bigJo's info on hooks he is spot on there is a delicate balance with hooks/rings/bib angle/tow point/body shape and any components to make a lure do what you want it to but you'll find that all out as you go.

bigJo, Poolie, thanks for the tips guys. I guess I will rig them up and test them in a storm water creek down the road. Here are a couple of pics of my first couple of attempts, learnt from a lot of mistakes from these ones already ha. Im thinking of getting a dremel to make shaping easier, would a dremel be best for this?
