    Hi Brad
As Steady said "Google" is the hub of the universe.
I mean there's zillions of lure making sites and stores selling the gear to do it!
Here's one I found which was really simple to follow for the beginner and I like the ideas on why he likes to make his own although I don't follow his principles myself I respect anyone who does.Patience and good eyesight helps.

Good on you with the new site "Cohuna".I still haven't got "Liquidblue" up there yet but will have the whole package ready to go soon. There seems to be never enough time in the days !
    Cheers

Thanks mate. I had a look at the link that you posted, it gave me some good ideas.
I hope that you get your site up soon, I know what you mean by time consuming. I spent about 3 weeks doing mine.
    Good luck.

Just noticed stimpy 46, you want to make spinnerbaits and hard bodied lures. There's alot of work in making lures.

That's ok, I'm just taking it up as a hobby. I got a bit of time up my sleeve & I think it will be an interesting past time. You sound like you have had some experience with making lures, how did you go?

    Hi Stimpy,
made a roughy and put it in the gallery just to show how easy it is. Once made you just tune them with the bib, towing eye or both,Cheers Fiik.

That's a ripper mate. So what's the target fish? Looks like it might do ok with the cod & yellas.

    Hi Brad,
It is a copy of a surebite bream bait. I use them at night under the Maroochy river motorway bridge. I cast out of the dark under the bridge into the glow of the bridge lights targetting tailor GT's and school jew. That color pattern is one of the most successful for Barra in the burdekin delta in north queensland. I reckon they would work well on bass in streams and trout in pools. I'm not sure colour makes all that much difference. I saw an article recently about the colours of reef fish. Most of the colours turn black at minimum depth but when they used UV light the fish lit up like christmas trees. Cheers Fiik.

    Hi There.

Had a look in the Gal. mate ,at the lures and they are so good. You can see a little of different styles in there for sure.Reminds me of some Rapala Magnum lures with stainless bibs I have had for ages. The beech is a good timber and stable.I mean they make pool cues out of it!Someone asked before what glue to use e.g araldite or two part epoxy glue?
    Cheers

    Hi Chicka,
I only use 24hr araldite ,I've found the easiest way to stuff things up is impatience. When I'm in serious lure production I'll make twenty at a time with each step taking as long as it needs IE glue and paint takes a little longer in winter. The beech that I use is part of a tree I found laying in a creek on the mapleton range. We pulled it out with a tractor twenty years ago. The locals reckon it was laying there for over eighty years. The wood is still perfect and nearly as light as balsa but extremely strong.Cheers Fiik.

    Hi Guys
I used to tie heaps of fly patterns when we lived on the Sth. Coast mainly because back then they costed you a bomb and you had the versatillity of knocking one up to suit what was happening on the water.
The hard bodied lures will be easier on the eyes to build being on a bigger scale.
Several decades ago my Dad bought me a "Shopsmith" combination woodworking machine.Lathe, rip saw ,inverting drill press and sanding attachments which Iv'e dug out of storage cause we never had a good setup area or workshop. It was a gift for finishing my Carpentry apprenticeship.Great machine ,built in Aus. in 1952.
Youv'e got me motivated guys to knock up a minnow and popper pattern.
The Sh.Smith can be used to drill horizontally which is a bonus for scalloping out the head of the popper with forstner bit and chisels. The hardware can be also positioned with accurate drill press.I think a dremel tool and airbrush would be a handy purchase.
Thanks Fiik and Brad you have inspired me to knock a couple up as a practice run.Hope you guys do the same and we can trade around ideas.
    Will post some pics.
As you said Stimp it's good to have Winter projects !Keeps you outa the pub !Hey!
Here's a couple of pics of the machine set up as a rip saw.Remove the table and add tool rests and chuck arbors which are all morse taper. It can be inverted to stand vertically as a drill press or mortice machine. An american company bought them out and begun further production with imported asian parts which were never as good as the original.
Ps Brad will email you a copy of a Luremakers File we bought which is very detailed. if that's OK!Can send you one as well Fiik /just leave details.
    Enjoy
