Default and another thing re: eyes for weight

you could also make floating eyes to adjust the other way ... not sure what you would make them out of ... wooden beads or something.

just a thought at this stage

Default lures are better than tv

    I made this today

its a lure swimmer ... it lets me look at a lure while it swims

    mmmm lures

I learned a lot this arvo watching lures swim

I learned mine didn't swim very well

I learned why mine didn't swim very well

I learned how to make mine swim better

I learned that just coz I now know how to make them swim better, it doesn't mean I can make them swim better

I learned that, even though I can watch a video of one of my lures swimming, my wife cant enjoy it quite so much

    go figure

I learned "learnt" isn't, or doesn't seem to be, a word

I learned I should have payed more attention to all those early posts from this thread I read all those weeks ago about mounting the tow point way down the bib, but thought I didn't need to pay attention to

thanks anyway for trying to educate me

the second pic is a long exposure to show movement. I cant tell how long because I cant figure out this crazy camera. It looks about either 3 or 5 wiggles long.

that lure isn't mine btw, tis a store bought Halco ... man that sucker swims well

I also learned that soft plastics really need to be cranked fast to get any kind of action... surprised... thought they would "action" up early

    - those of you from Australia will be pleased to know that the entire thing is held together with wire

yes its a pump that circulates water forever

    obsession, what obsession?

actually it taught me a lot about all kinds of things and will allow me to test some new ideas i have in real time. I have a feeling some of my ideas will take 20 prototypes before i know if they are duds or worth pursuing further

ill be able to make them weak, just pressing bibs into place etc, and test them then reshape them on the fly. this allows very rapid prototyping because there are no casting pressures or impacting with water to pull eyelets out or anything

too much time on my hands!!! I only have half a lifetime left to get all this stuff out of my head!

Default bibs and shallow water observation

    I have a tip ... my first!

when you are trying to hand cut a bib slot on a finished lure, to check how straight it is, slot in a large sheet of your bib plastic.

the size will amplify any errors

    ----------------------------------

and an observation from the shallows of my workbench

I pulled the trebles off my little halco and it still swims really well. In fact I think there might have been an increase in the size of the wobble. they seem to play no part in imparting the action (I thought they did) and there was only a slight increase in body roll due, I presume, to the lack of keeling ballast.

all of my lures swim upside down or sideways if they don't have the trebles on them.
