i have a graphite shimano catana... and i broke the tip off it a few weeks back... graphite just shatters... luckyily it broke very close to the next runner... so its being used slightly shorter...

need to buy a new one
i once had a friend who was worried about losing my lures.... my reply... "i dont buy them to hang on my wall... they are there to be lost or catch a fish... but i rather the later"

Burkey there is a series of videos on youtube.com you should watch, but in short you need a snug fitting sleave 5-7cm (use a section from and old fibreglass rod) and a snug fitting splint (sanded down dowel) for the in side of the rod about 1-2cm shorter than the sleave.
Glue them on then run some binding over the lot of it or @ the ends and the middle like I did, 3 wraps should do it.
Glue the binding then varnish it.

With the fibreglass sleave and dowel splint the graphite rod felt exactly the same as before good luck mate, it might pay to have a practice.
If the Mexican fire is the Raider it is graphite, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The videos will go into more detail.

Hey mate, most of the time the shimano reps can be orrite, just ring up the store you bought it from and tell them what happened and they might replace it.
Tell them the truth though, cos if you lie then you can guarantee you won't get it replaced.
