Default Anyone been fishing off Norfolk Island???

    Hi again y'all.

Got a girlfriend that has been bit BIG TIME with the fishing bug (musta been that 4.5kg snapper she hooked into when I took her out a while back).
Anyway, she's heading over to Norfolk island for a holiday with her mum in August.
Whilst over there she's thinking of heading out on a charter for a bit of line wetting.
I have very little knowledge of fishing over that way & was wondering if anyone might be able to let us know what she might find herself encountering?

    Greatly appreicated.
    Bill.

Hi mate, dunno if i'm too late for your post or not but thought i'd jump on just in case.

your missus is a lucky girl. My mother grew up on Norfolk, and i have been quite a few times over the last 15 yrs or so. Climate is great, people are really nice and the fishing and surfing is superb.

Best land-based is off the crystal pools or the headland at anson and emily bays, great blurter (trevally - goldens/silvers/blue eye) king and mowong fishing. Plenty of bronze whalers too if she's up for a decent line stretch. If she wants to get out off the reefs off kingston and even over to the islands just wander down the local and ask a few of the fellas that kick around down there, a few of the Buffetts and McCoys i know have some pretty nice tinnies, if they ask nicely they may just take them out for a run.

Tell your girl to go and check out Duffy's tree, inside the crater at mt pitt and a must is a swim at crystal pools. also the old cliff dumping area is good for a watch over the seas, i've seen tiger sharks lurking around down there that were easily 15 ft+.

I'll dig through a few pics and post em a bit later.

    Greatly appreciated.
She's heading over there on 1st sept & comming back on the 14th.
She's going to be doin a fair bit of horse riding (she's a horse nut & competes in eventing over here).
She is also going to book herself onto a couple of charters as she's keen to do some reef fishing.
I've been telling her about catching kingfish & she's seen a few now, so she's very keen to hook into a king or two.
I've already told her that if she breaks my PB of 22kg she's not allowed home & her rods will be sold to the salvos ;-)

Thanks very much once again. I'm sure she'll enjoy it emmesly.
Hoepfully I'll head over there next year with her.

    Bill.
