I travelled to Burrendong Dam over the Easter break for the Burrendong Classic which is a fishing comp which we have attended for the past 9 years. This year had the most entries since it began with over 1500 people registering. I headed up on the Thursday prior to Easter to set up the camp site and to ensure that we got a good spot right on the water so that we could keep the rods in the water for the entire fishing period from 5:00 PM on the Friday afternoon until lines up at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. It was the hottest weather we had experienced in the 9 years that the comp has been running with the temperature in the mid 30's over the 4 days there. The dam level was at 32% which is the second lowest level for the comp. Fishing reports were all good in the lead up but as in most cases when the Easter boat traffic hits the water the fish shut down. We didn't do too bad with our final tally at 9 carp, 2 catfish, 2 redfin and a yellow belly which was far better than a lot of entrants who went fishless. We didn't feature in the prizes this year but it's still great to get away and enjoy some time fishing.

Nice spot right on the dams edge.
