    Hey all
New to this forum, I live in country Vic, Passion is chasing Murray cod via lures.
I have been trying my hand at fishing the bay at Geelong, when I can get down that way.
Hope to post some reports etc from time to time
    Cheers

Nice There have been some nice fish around,
I fished Lake Nagambie a couple of monday's ago,
Trolled up a snagged lure and only had one hit on a swim bait for the day.
    Where you heading?
    Today would have been perfect

Nice Davo, I have caught some good cod up there at the Gulf through to Bearii
What lures are you flicking / Trolling.
I have had good results with Stumpies up that way.
    Cheers

    Hey there Wally
Nice. I got a boat last year for the bay. Have kids living in Geelong so I come down Sunday arvo stay and fish Monday’s. works well for me when cod season closes and the snapper start to run.
    Cheers Jed.

So a wrap up of the trip, a 45cm cod, caught on chicken, a smaller Murray cod on shrimp I believe and a small trout cod also on shrimp. Lures were casually cast for no avail. Baits used were cheese, worms, chicken, shrimp, prawn and even a marshmallow. The river was dropping quickly so maybe that affected the fishing, anyway it was a good couple of nights away regardless, cheers davo.

    Nice report Davo,
was the marshmallow toasted? that could make the difference.
I think it is tough this time of year regardless of what the river is doing.
I think social media has skewed the view of fishing winter for cod.
I knew of some blokes that had some great pictures of two nice metre plus cod from copton last year. They did not mention that there was 3 boats 6 guys and 5 days of fishing for 2 cod.

Where the shrimp frozen or did you get them there?
    Cheers Jed

You may already know Jed but I have found when shrimp are hard to come by, you are best to get the nets as deep as possible and overnight is even better.
