I have been reading up and viewing youtube on fishing rigs, and I have noticed that when they tie there hooks some thread the line through the back of the hook others through the bend side. Is there a reason for this or is it just preference. I have always threaded the line through the back of J & suicide hooks.

They were various knots, half and full blood knots [from the back] improved clinch knot [through the bend] uni knot [through the bend] polomar knot [from the back] I mostly use the polomar or full blood knot.

I cannot see why there would be a difference either from the front or back. If it was a Snell knot, then the correct method is through the back to keep the knot nice and straight. With the others the load on the knot shouldn't be too different either way.
