    Havent been out in a while but in the last few weeks I managed to get out for a crack at the local beach and took one of my mates out in his boat;

    21st Jan:
Headed out Saturday night down Broken Bay ended up having g an awesome session ... 2 bream - kept 1 @ 40cm the other was around 30cm released, 2 lost sharks - 1 which was well over 2.5m had me running ragged up n down the beach before breaking my 80lb leader, the other I didn't even see it just popped my main line after a short run. Also baged a nice 45cm Taylor and release a couple of rays and a catfish. The big surprise was the yakka which took a yakka fillet intended for a bream. All fish bar the small bream taken on yakka and mullet strips. Sadly no 'ting.
A few locals had a nice.mixedbbag of Bonnie's and trevs plus a good plate red from same stretch of sand just before sunset.
Rain and strong southerly made it a bit uncomfortable but had the beach to myself from 8:30pm until I ran out of bait at 11:30pm.

    3rd Feb:

Wen out with my good friend Larry on his bowrider on Brisbane Waters we were chasing flatties and any other tasty morsels we could find.
Anyway we tried a location which has been very successful for me in the past and its just around the corner from the ramp...
Larry was armed with one of my spare rods and fist cast he nails a very nice 60cm flattie- then a few casts later he starts on the pinkes... Much to my frustration I still had nothing to show for all my bait and effort in berleying up on my side of the boat.
An hour or so pass and WTF he is onto another cracking flattie again- this one gave him some curry and repeatedly came to the boat then went straight down, peeling line off the screaming Shimano.
We tried a few different spots after that but we didnt even get a bite
Needless to say I returned home with Donuts but still have a fantiastic day out with a great mate.

Hopefully will get out again to the beach in the coming week and chase some 'Ting and Bream on silly gear

Sorry cannot upload piccies getting errors will try to upload in a separate post

    Tight lines ya'all

Good effort Anthony. Regarding the pics, I think it was Kev who figured out you can insert pics by dragging and dropping them into place.

used to have great sport on the big hawksberry blue nosers whith lures off the oyster leases, also Pittwater around april on prawns.
I presume the big bream u are expecting come out from the hawksberry to spawn.

Hey there I'm wondering where do catch squid in Pittwater as i don't seem to have any luck and what time to catch them.
Also I'm thinking about trolling some lures around the headlands just wondering if anyone has any tips for that?
    Thanks

G'day James, welcome to the forum. The 2 best members to answer your questions are the 2 who have posted above - Reelaxation (Anthony) & Blair. Give them time, they will get back to you.

Tell us a bit about yourself, you're obviously a Sydney-sider, but we won't hold that against you . What's your main fishing style and your usual targets?

    Jeff

Hi James, welcome, west head in pittwater which is the rocky headland on the left as you head north directly west of barenjoey headland( north and east sides also can be good for squid). you may see boats boats catching livies there just try for squid from west head south back towards mona vale along the shore also around boat moorings on other side, probably not a good time of year for kingies in pittwater if that's what u are chasing. The area between those headlands can troll well for salmon and tailor this time of year also out towards lion island and between lion island and box head.
The first and last 2 hours of sunlight best for squid and trolling.
    good luck.

Welcome JG, unfortunately I dont chase squid around Pittwater- but you would be looking for kelp beds and sand (I have caught plenty in Sydney Harbour) around Manly and the heads/bays so that would be my starting point.

As for trolling- you can try trolling metal slugs around the schooling fish - look for the birds and they will guide you to a bust-up. Personally I prefer to find the birds and slow down and watch which direction they are going- then pull up in front of the school and then cast small metals and plastics into the school. Pretty sure you could get some shallow divers or poppers to do the same.
Also worth trying a few skirt lures around the headlands for Kingfish- but my go-to are spanyid raiders and halco twisty's in the 7, 15gm, the 30gm is better for trolling.

    Tight lines

    G'day James.
New members are welcome here. You may have already noticed they are 'WELCOMED', As Jeff, a long term member has indicated, without being invasive, we'd like to learn a bit about you. We'd like to know how and where you fish, some of your best remembered fishing conquests and in turn of course, you will get to know us. Perhaps an indication of your age group would also be appreciated. A few of us are actually of the older 'wrinkleys' family. That's not a disadvantage, it usually indicates we've had a fair bit of experience and we also have a sense of humour. Some of our members have physical difficulties getting out at times; some are restricted by other means but they all love to fish. It also means we are wise enough to know we can still learn more about our sport from wiser and sometimes younger guys and lady members. Amongst others who are not quite so dedicated to our site, there's a particularly tight group of friends on here, most of whom are long term members and posters. Perhaps surprisingly, many of us have never met, yet consider the others to be personal friends. Note also that we don't care how you fish but hope you keep it legal.
Repeating and agreeing with other member's welcomes, regards, Old fisho; AKA Noel from Tuross Head on the south coast.

Several replies and some handy info for the new member but something still baffles me. James has not been back online since the day he joined. Therefore he has not seen any of these replies unless he is logged out and still looking.
    That is all!
